The Neverhood PC Game 1998 Overview:
Features of The Neverhood:
The Neverhood is a point-and-click adventure game which emphasizes the solving of puzzles through character action rather than inventory usage. Klaymen must use the available environment in order to advance in the game, with the standard inventory being quasi-absent. There are possible gameovers if the player isn’t careful enough, with one where the game cannot be restored from a previous save and must be restarted.
… The game begins with Klaymen waking up in a room and exploring the game, collecting various discs appearing to contain a disjointed story narrated by Willie (which Klaymen can view through various terminals scattered throughout the land). As Klaymen travels the game, he occasionally crosses paths with Willie, who agrees to help him in his journey, while Klogg spies on them from afar. Eventually, Klaymen’s quest directs him to Klogg’s castle, and for this Klaymen enlists the help of Big Robot Bil, a towering automaton and a friend of Willie’s. Big Robot Billis Willie’s partner. He is huge, powerful, but he just wants to pet his teddy bear. He was one of the robots created by Ottoborg. There were three of them: Appie, Togor and Bil. Bil was good at building. When Ottoborg’s world was shattered, Bil met Willie Trombone. They later found Hoborg, and helped him find the best clay in the universe. As a thank you, Hoborg gave him a blue teddy bear, which Bil has adored ever since. Willie and Bil remained in Hoborg’s world, The Neverhood. But Klogg took over the world and locked Bil in a prison. He also turned Bil bad, by flipping a lever from ‘good’ to ‘bad’ inside his body. Soon Klaymen came to the rescue, restoring everything but blowing his brains out.
